Steel Heat Treating

Your home for Annealing and Heat Treating Services

Derrick Company has been providing metal heat treating services throughout the United States and Canada since 1943. Other furnaces/ovens at Derrick range in size from our large 12 ft. x 12 ft. x 35 ft. long car-bed furnace, down to our smallest 4 ft. x 4 ft. x 6 ft. automatic, electric oven. Our quenching capabilities include forced air, water, boiling water, and press quench.

STRESS RELIEVING

We provide stress relieving for carbon, stainless and other alloy steels.

  • Soak Temps: 1050-1250°F
  • Soak Time: 1 hour per inch of section thickness, followed by cooling to prevent new stresses.

We handle weldments, castings, machined parts, and flame-cut plate up to 60,000 pounds, and offer quick turnaround for tooling, structural components, and pressure vessel applications.

ANNEALING

We offer full and subcritical annealing for carbon and alloy steels to improve machinability, relieve stresses, and soften material.

  • Full annealing: 1500-1650°F with slow furnace cool to refine grain and improve ductility.
  • Subcritical: Temp based on alloy; performed below transformation temps to reduce residual stress without changing structure.

Ideal for forgings, weldments, and cold-formed parts. We tailor soak times and cooling rates to meet your spec and end-use.

PRECIPITATION HARDENING

We offer solution and aging treatments for precipitation-hardenable alloys like 17-4 PH, 15-5 PH, and nickel-based grades.

  • Solution heat treatment: 1900-2000°F
  • Aging Range: 900-1150°F for conditions H900-H1150

Used in aerospace, medical, and high-strength structural components. We ensure tight temp uniformity and consistent mechanical properties.
